Overhead Hold

Babywearing Option:  Babywearing on the front or rear would be acceptable during this movement.  You can also hold your baby in one arm while holding one weight overhead with the other arm, then switch sides.

Points of Performance Farm to Table Hold:

1. Hold one weight by your side in one hand, and in the other hand hold one weight overhead.

2. Focus on keeping the ribs stacked over the pelvis.  There may be a tendency to flare the ribs upwards if the weight is too heavy or a lack of focus.  Refocus on your breath if you begin to flare, really focusing on the exhale with a lift of the pelvic floor and contraction of the abdominals to keep the ribs neutral.

3. Focus on keeping the head aligned with the body; there may be a tendency to lean the head towards the lifted arm.

Points of Performance Overhead Hold:

1. Hold one weight overhead with both hands.  Can be a bumper plate, a dumbbell, really anything that you have available.

2. Focus on keeping the ribs stacked over the pelvis.  There may be a tendency to flare the ribs upwards if the weight is too heavy or a lack of focus.  Refocus on your breath if you begin to flare, really paying attention to the exhale with a lift of the pelvic floor and contraction of the abdominals to keep the ribs neutral.
