The Ninja Roll
When getting up and down from your back, it is important to try to avoid abdominal flexion or a sit-up movement as much as possible. Your six-pack abs are connected by the connective tissue called the linea alba. This tissue is what stretches throughout pregnancy to accommodate for your growing baby! The more this tissue is aggravated by sit ups, the harder it will be to heal. So we like to teach the ninja roll as a technique to get up and down from your back!
While diastasis is a normal adaption to pregnancy (100% of women who carry to term will have diastasis), a linger diastasis in the postpartum is not normal. Prevention techniques like this may help to reduce the prevalence of diastasis in the postpartum.
